LEARNING COLORS TOGETHER- WEEK 4

Welcome to the 4th and final week of ‘Learning colors Together’ series. This program was in partnership with Kids Up Front Foundation.

In this session, our program facilitator Lauren shares some fun activities that help us in learning more about colors and numbers. We will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly by reading a wonderful book ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle.

Below are a few activities that you can explore in the video included in this blog. Let’s learn together!

Activity 1: The lifecycle of a butterfly
Activity 2: A movement activity- (You only need a dice for this activity)
Activity 3:  Make a butterfly

  • Paper towel
  • Washable markers
  • Spray bottle with some water
  • A pair of scissors
  • A towel or a piece of cloth for keeping things clean

Lyrics of the songs/rhymes in the video

  1. The fuzzy little caterpillar (Tune: Itsy-Bitsy spider)
    The fuzzy little caterpillar,
    curled upon a leaf
    spun her little chrysalis,
and then she fell fast asleep.
    While she was sleeping,
she dreamed that she could fly
and later when she woke up,
    she was a butterfly!

  2. Two little butterflies
Two little butterflies, sitting on a hill
one named Jack, one named Jill
Fly away Jack, fly away Jill
Come back Jack, Come back Jill

Two little butterflies, sitting on a cloud
one named quiet, one named loud
Fly away quiet, fly away loud
Come back quiet, Come back loud

Two little butterflies, sitting on a stick
one named slow, one named quick
Fly away slow, fly away quick
Come back slow, Come back quick

Two little butterflies, flying in the sky
one named low, one named high
Fly away low, fly away high
Come back low, Come back high

  3. Flitter-Flutter butterfly (Tune: Twinkle-twinkle little star)
    Flitter-Flutter butterfly,
Flying in the big blue sky

    Flitter-Flutter butterfly,
Flying in the big blue sky

    Go bananas!
    Go bananas, go-go bananas…

Oh, the city is great and the city is grand
    There are many tall buildings
On a little piece of land
We all live together on the fifty-seventh floor
And this is what we do
When we open up the door
Take the elevator up, take the elevator down (3 times)
Then we turn around (spin around)

  6. Wind the bobbin up
    Wind the bobbin up
    Wind the bobbin up

    Wind it back again
    Wind it back again
    Pull, pull, clap, clap, clap
    Point to the ceiling
    Point to the floor
