OUR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

The Kindergarten Program at Jasper Place Family Resource Centre is approved and funded by Alberta Education as a Private Early Childhood Services (ECS) Operator. A teacher with a Bachelor of Education degree teaches the Kindergarten Program.

We accommodate the needs of parents who want their child to benefit from full time early learning and quality care in one location. Our Kindergarten Program runs from 8:45 – 11:45 AM, Monday through Friday except for statutory and school holidays. Our child care hours are from 7:15 A.M-5:30 P.M. The children are in their Kindergarten Classroom with the same educators for the whole day.

Children who will turn five years of age by December 31 of that current school year are eligible to attend the Kindergarten program.

Our goal is to provide an optimum environment for the child where total learning takes place. We follow the Kindergarten Program Statement, as outlined by Alberta Education.

The Centre believes that all aspects of a child’s development must be closely interrelated in order for the child to achieve his/her fullest potential. We utilize a project planning approach with a focus on early literacy and early numeracy.

Through planned learning experiences inspired by the interests of the children and incorporated into the child’s play, the child obtains knowledge and skills essential for his/her overall development. For example, when a child is building with blocks, she is concerned with shapes, sizes and relationships. He measures, matches, and classifies. She faces problems of construction. He shares materials with others and communicates his ideas.

We believe in working together: the Centre, the Family and the Community.

Through parent-teacher gatherings, such as our Orientation Meeting, Celebration of Learning, Parent- Teacher meetings and daily contact, we strive to engage parents in their child’s learning and development to ensure positive outcomes for the child.
