Our role as Family Resource Network hub

The Jasper Place Family Resource Centre is the designated Family Resource Network (FRN) Hub for West Edmonton. As part of the provincial FRN, we deliver high-quality prevention and early intervention services and supports for children aged 0 to 18 and their families.

The ‘Hub and Spoke’ Model

Through a ‘hub and spoke’ model, the Network (hub) coordinates the delivery of FRN services and supports within geographic areas across the province. This is done either directly or through collaborative partnerships with qualified service agencies or providers (spokes).

  • Parents and caregivers are connected to the right programs and services to help children and families thrive.
  • Service providers are connected, creating a strong web of support.

FAQ

How do I register for in-person groups?
Participants can drop in for in-person playgroups. Registration is only required for online sessions and select in-person workshops with limited capacity.

How do I register for virtual groups?

The program description will include a registration link. Once you register, Zoom will send you an email with a link to join the meeting.

Do I need to be vaccinated to attend any programs and services?
Vaccination is not required to access any of our programs or services.
However, we encourage vaccination as it is the most effective way to protect yourself and others. Vaccines are safe and effective, creating a protective shield around our youngest citizens who are not yet eligible for vaccination.

How old does my child have to be to attend the early learning programs?
Our early childhood development programs are designed for children aged 0-6 years.
Some parent education programs, like Triple P, support parents and caregivers of children aged 0-17 years.

I am in the early stages of my pregnancy. Can I still attend parenting groups?

Absolutely! We offer a variety of programs and services for expectant parents. Check our calendar for more details.

Are these programs inclusive?

Yes, we strive to offer programs and services in an inclusive and diverse manner. We welcome all individuals to access the variety of programs and services we offer and connect them to additional community resources.

Are there drop-in programs?

Yes, we offer several drop-in programs, including Stay and Play, Come Play with Me, and Baby and You. You’re welcome to drop in at one of our locations, and our facilitators can assist with registration.

Where do I park?
LaPerle Location (#29 9606 180 Street): Free parking is available anywhere on the street.
Cabrini Location (16811 88 Avenue): Free 2-hour parking on the street or paid parking in the gravel lot and reciprocal lot.
Wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Orange Hub Location (#413 – 10045 156 St): Free 30-minute parking on 155 Street near the theater entrance. Free parking is also available in residential areas near the location.

Who funds JPFRC programs?

Our programs are funded by the Government of Alberta and the Family and Community Support Services Program (FCSS-Edmonton).

Do I have to fill out the Participant Information form every time I register for a program?
No, you only need to fill out the ‘sign up’ form once per year, either online or via a paper copy. This information is for our office use only and is kept secure under FOIP.

Are all programs free of charge?
Yes, all our Family Resource programs and services are free of charge, except for the WECAN food basket program.

Can I bring friends with me if I am registered for a group?
For programs with limited registration and capacity, each participant must register individually. For early childhood development programs, additional participants are welcome.
