LET THE CHILDREN PLAY!
Schaefer and Drewes (2014) identify twenty major therapeutic powers of play, located across four areas:
1. Facilitates communication, including enhancing self expression.
2. Fosters emotional well-being and can be cathartic, enabling stress management.
3. Enhances social relationships, strengthening attachment and promoting empathy.
4. Increases personal strengths, including the improvement of creative problem-solving and the capacity for resilience.
